Mission
The CMU Center for Professional and Personal Ethics supports the study, teaching and practice of ethics and aims to promote moral excellence in both the personal and professional lives of those in our community. The center is guided by four primary principles:
1) that moral excellence arises out of the study of ethics, moral reflection, and the practice of ethical behavior;
2) that as part of a public university, the center has an obligation to help instill a number of core virtues in the student body including academic integrity, tolerance, and citizenship;
3) that civic engagement and service learning activities provide and individual with opportunities to practice ethical behavior and develop core virtues; and
4) that as part of a public university, the center has an obligation to serve the surrounding community.
